DIY Stock Tank Pool
School is out and it’s officially summer break for the kids. (And us parents, yay!) This stock tank pool is our latest diy home project and it turned out perfect. When I saw @arrowsandbow post, I immediately sent it to my husband and his response: Let’s do it. Insert happy dance! We then started our research and watched all the youtube how-to videos. I should clarify, husband watched all the videos and I was deciding what color to paint it.
We decided to place our pool on the raised patio because it was the perfect size and the hubby could still see the tv thats up under our pergola. Our first task was painting, which was pretty easy with a roll-on brush. I used an exterior paint/primer and did two coats. I didn’t paint the inside because it would probably be chipped away after us being in it so much. After everything was dry, Terrell went to work drilling the holes for our pump. We put together the fittings and tubes and I put some weatherproof caulk around the fittings on the inside and let them sit to cure for about 30 minutes. We knew we wanted to hide the pump and have a place to keep all of our chemicals so we searched and found this Keter deck box from Aldi. We drilled two holes for the pump hoses and one for the extension cord and it was done. We started to fill up the pool, which took about 1.5 hours, and there were no leaks!
It’s been a few weeks and we have definitely gotten our money’s worth on the pool. We have been in it every single day, sometimes twice a day for the kiddos! It is the perfect size for us. Not too big or small. The kids are actually eager to help with keeping it clean and checking the chlorine. Overall, this was one of the funnest projects we’ve done and that we all get to enjoy it!
cheers, Genta
